Program Note

In Music in Shattered Colors, I imagined a work that melds the intense high register of the bassoon with bright, resonant chords in the piano. This combination of timbres, played loudly, creates vivid sonorities that sound as if they are vibrating with internal energy, like glass on the brink of shattering.
